PURPOSE OF THE JOB Support the Group Compliance (GC) executive team by driving the annual planning and strategic direction, establishing the infrastructure and controls for effective operation of the compliance function inclusive of maintenance of management information, accurate and professional reporting, appropriate governance structures, policies and procedures. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitate the attainment of the compliance functions strategic objectives and operational planning
  • Responsible for Compliance Operations contribution to achieve compliance with Principle Risks and coverage agreed with the Group Audit and Compliance Committee
  • Implement prudential planning
  • Facilitate the annual and quarterly review of the Compliance Coverage Plan
  • Facilitate the annual review of GC Business Continuity Plan (BCP) with Management Information (MI) specialist
  • Ensure Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements are catered for and controls are in place to support attestation and sign off by the Head of Compliance through oversight and guidance in respect of affected processes
  • Oversee and review the monthly Whistle-blowing statistics or reconciliation as per the SOX requirements
  • Maintain the Group Compliance Risk Control Assessment (RCA) and embed the RCA process and framework
  • Establish close working relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Together with the Communications Consultant co-ordinate and manage the monthly GC Ex Co meetings as well as the facilitation and distribution of the minutes
  • Together with Communications Consultant identify, document and publish key internal compliance procedures
  • Establish robust reporting and MI channels, to ensure the continuous improvement of the governance reports and that they are executed with first class quality and superior standards
  • Identify MI and reporting improvements and actively drive through the necessary channels for change
  • Maintain effective recordkeeping of reports

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • B Degree or equivalent NQF level 6 qualification
  • Two (2) years experience within a legal or compliance environment
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and the Internet
  • No criminal record
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Certificate in Compliance Management or equivalent NQF level 5 qualification
  • Two (2) years experience in Commercial Acumen - with the ability to provide a cost effective, leading edge operational infrastructure
  • Two (2) years experience dealing with a multitude of business disciplines, including finance, information technology, human resources,risk management, control and assurance
  • Two (2) years sound management supervisory experience and leadership abilities
    • Preference will be given to South African Citizens and Permanent residents of South Africa in possession of proof of permanent resident status
