The Compliance Advisor will keep abreast on financial industry privacy laws and regulations in Canada and provide regulatory expertise in consulting with a diverse group of credit card business line areas. The Compliance Advisor will guide, advise, and approve Business Area activities subject to Canada's financial services industry privacy laws and regulations. The Compliance Advisor will work with business leaders to establish and communicate a clear view of compliance risks within that Business Area. The Compliance Advisor will maintain all organizational and professional ethical standards. The Compliance Advisor will work with general supervision. Responsibilities will include: - Execute Compliance Advisor tasks outlined in the Compliance Management Program - Inform business leaders of the requirements of privacy law and regulation they must comply with including Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the Telecommunications Act, and various Federal and provincial privacy and data security laws and regulations - Advise business leaders on their obligations under the Capital One Privacy Policy and Standards - Evaluate business initiatives and processes from a privacy compliance perspective (i.e., new ventures, products, systems, marketing initiatives, and new regulations). - Guide Business Area(s) on the development and maintenance of processes to deliver on their responsibilities and accountabilities within the Compliance Management Program - Assess compliance management program effectiveness and provide feedback to Compliance Officers and Governance team - Conduct root cause analysis, determine root causes and lead corrective action efforts at the process level to ensure breakdowns are appropriately assessed, escalated & resolved. Includes approval process solutions to prevent recurrence - Drive monitoring & reporting efforts at the process level to ensure metrics are implemented & analyzed and effective process reporting is produced - Influence business leaders to comply with applicable privacy laws and regulations - Stay educated and updated on all changes in federal and provincial privacy and data security laws and regulations. Seek industry appropriate privacy certification and maintain currency of certifications Qualifications Basic Qualifications: - Bachelors Degree - 2 years of experience in a compliance, risk management, privacy related role or applicable business/legal experience. Preferred Qualifications: - Direct experience with Canada's federal and provincial financial privacy laws and regulations. - CIPP/C - Canadian Certified Information Privacy Professional. - Experience with supporting the development and implementation of privacy programs.
