The Canadian Finance team is looking for a dedicated, results focused individual to join our client focused team. The successful candidate will report to the Canada Business Line CFO and is responsible for the management of external financial reporting, the general ledger and for the Capital One Bank (Canada Branch) compliance with accounting regulatory standards. They will also be responsible for the management of changes both driven by the external regulatory environment as well by internal business initiatives. In addition, the successful candidate will maintain key relationships with US Controller's Group to ensure the delivery of well controlled numbers on which to build Canada based processes, plus with Credit Risk Management, Risk Operations and Finance within the Canadian business, and the SarbOx, Capital Market and Corporate Bank Administration teams within the US business. Responsibilities: Team Leadership - Set the strategic agenda for the Canadian Accounting team. - Champion the appropriate controls across the Canadian Finance team - Create an environment for success, through relationship management and appropriate alignment of resources. - Manager a team of 3 accountants and accounting reporting specialist and build relationships to influence and leverage US Controller's Group resources - Ensure ongoing technical awareness and capability of team. Accounting, Reporting & Projects - Accountable for the review and timely issuance of key financial reporting, including regulatory reporting to the OSFI and Stats Canada, statutory accounts and reporting for Capital One Bank - Canada, plus completion of material legal entity forecasts. - Lead the finance agenda to ensure compliance with all external financial reporting regulations (IFRS) and changes to these regulations. - Lead definition of material accounting and regulatory impacts on complex business and finance projects. Accounting Operations - Management of key relationships with third party supplier (eg. US Settlement & Reconciliation and Expense Management teams) - Ensure general reconciliation and compliance, while acting as an escalation point for issue resolution. - Oversee the local management of Accounts Payable and lead process change to deliver leading payment practices. Tax and Compliance - Management of key relationship with Head of International Tax to facilitate effective tax planning and reporting for Capital One Bank - Canada. - Lead local required changes for business unit expense management, to ensure accurate reflection of desired tax structure. - Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley activities are completed in a timely and well controlled manner, including the ownership of the relationship with audit groups and Global Finance Compliance. - Ensure appropriate oversight of Treasury activities and act as an escalation point for material issues.
