Purpose of Role
Wealth Operations is responsible for providing day to day transaction processing and position management of Barclays Wealth businesses. Barclays Wealth Operations consists of circa 2,400 staff across 30 sites and 14 jurisdictions, providing client focused, high-quality, responsive and commercial operations services in support of the success of Barclays Wealth. This is achieved through working in close collaboration with all other functional teams within Wealth, Barclays Global Retail Bank (GRB), Barclays Capital Operations, Infrastructure groups and Business Partners.
As part of a newly created function within Wealth Operations, supporting Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) clients, the role holder will provide trade support services to the London UHNW trading desk. The trade support function is new and will initially focus on Derivatives (Over the Counter and Exchange Traded) but will evolve over time as the UHNW segment grows its product and servicing capabilities.
The role requires close liaison with the Operations processing teams, to ensure operational activities are completed, and working closely with the traders, to ensure trading and expiry activities are completed in full and on time. As the conduit between the trading desk and the Operations teams, it is crucial that the role holder understands very quickly the full end-to-end business flow for derivatives. There will also be some liaison with UHNW Bankers and their executives to provide additional support.
The role holder will be expected to maintain and develop relationships with the various Operations teams, market counterparties and the London UHNW trading desk, to ensure a seamless front to back service is maintained for the end client.
Core Accountabilities
Business Requirements

The trade support analyst will be responsible for providing a high quality service in servicing derivative transaction from a trade support perspective. They will be accountable for maintaining and expanding relationships with Operations and traders, to ensure first class service levels are maintained. The role holder will ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures throughout and will be expected to ensure risk and control plays a key role in all activities undertaken for a confident risk managed environment. The role holder will also play a key role in developing the process flows within the team and analysing how the trade support team can support more complex and exotic derivative products as the business grows exponentially.
Account Setup
The role holder will be responsible for ensuring that each UHNW client has the appropriate trading accounts setup with Barclays Wealth and the trading counterparty. Confirming back to the trading desk and banker immediately is key for the client to begin trading.
Post Trade Services
Once trade execution has been undertaken by the trading desk, the role holder will be responsible for ensuring that orders are input into various systems and that all notifications and instructions are provided to the various Operations teams to enable asset creation, timely trade settlement, trade confirm creation dispatch and receipt, collateral management and FSA transaction reporting for example. The Trade Support team will undertake daily reconciliations to ensure that all derivative trades have been booked correctly and in line with instruction from the trading desk and counterparty reports. There will also be a need to ensure positions are monitored through a derivatives calendar to provide early site of upcoming expiries.
Open Position Management
The role holder will be responsible for maintaining derivative calendars to provide timely pre-notification of events, observations and expiries to the UHNW trading desk, Bankers and their executives on a daily basis. This will require good communication skills and response monitoring, in order to provide the high level of service needed to the Business. The role holder will also be required to undertake order input for any position close-outs made and facilitate any associated operational requirements.
Expiry Management
The role holder, as part of the Trade Support team core responsibilities, will be required to undertake close-out, lapse, exercise and assign duties in relation to the derivative positions held by clients. This will initially require liaising with the trading desk prior to expiry, to allow an informed decision to be made by the trader. The role holder will be expected to co-ordinated and facilitate various operational activities, in order to ensure positions are lapsed, exercised, assigned or closed-out. Again, they will work closely with various Operations teams in both Wealth and Shared Services to ensure cash or physical settlement is seamless and any delivery versus payment requirements are met.
Administration
The role holder will be expected to maintain accurate records and maintain them in accordance with Barclays' policy.

There are no supervisory responsibilities to this position.

The role holder's key clients will be the UHNW Trading Desk; UHNW Bankers and their Executives; UHNW Propositions team; Derivatives Product Managers; Wealth Operations processing team; and Shared Service Operations processing teams.
