Purpose of role

Barclays Wealth delivers a full Private Banking, Investment Management and Investment Banking suite of solutions and products to its Ultra High Net Worth clients. These products and services are provided and sourced from both within Barclays Group and from selected key external partners in order to deliver the optimal solution to the client. The UHNW business is primarily focused on three sub segments: Family Offices (>£200m), Business Owners (>£500m) and Private Individuals (>£100m). The UHNW team is composed of two revenue generating teams, Client Coverage and the Strategic Solutions Group, and two support teams, Client & Sales Management and the Middle Office. The UHNW business has the sponsorship at executive level within Barclays group and is a key engine of growth. Barclays Wealth seeks to appoint a dedicated experienced Compliance Officer to support this business.

Core accountabilities

The UHNW client base will be serviced with an institutional product offering from Barclays Capital and other partners. New private client controls will need to be devised and implemented to address additional regulatory issues which will arise from the provision of institutional products and services. Key accountabilities will therefore include:

KYC : helping the bankers address the KYC requirements for these clients, working with MLROs on risk acceptance decisions, assessing client categorisation, facilitating client on boarding with Barclays Capital and ensuring the provision of terms of business documentation.

Transaction clearance : devise protocols to identify private side and public side transactions and the associated transaction notification and clearance procedures with Barclays Capital Compliance, implement appropriate transaction and deal team management procedures in conjunction with the .Wealth and Barclays Capital Compliance Control Rooms.

Transaction suitability and appropriateness : devise enhanced controls to ensure the institutional products and services are suitable for the UHNW client group and appropriate from an execution perspective given clients sophistication and attitude to risk.

Transaction advice : covering conflicts of interest considerations, cross border marketing and solicitation rules, market conduct rules, stock exchange and shareholding disclosure requirements, consideration or reputional risk issues and trade documentation issues (eg fee and risk disclosure standards).

Monitoring : working with the Client Coverage Group and other compliance teams on appropriate transaction monitoring protocols.

Employee compliance : advisory support on personal account dealing, inducement, registration, gift and entertainment, outside business policies and the wider compliance policy framework

Training : provision of compliance training on all regulatory and compliance policy requirements

Supervisory responsibilities
The role holder will have a proven track record in managing staff and will exhibit excellence in leading a team.
