Overall Job Purpose

Work with the business to deliver appropriate governance, risk management and control in Barclaycard Global Business Solutions (GBS). By acting as a business partner, ensure that required risk, governance and control processes are embedded and operating in all business activities and play a lead role in establishing a secure foundation on which the business can grow. Monitor the prevailing risk profile and ensure the appropriate management of all risks.

Operational Risk Partner's portfolio to consist of Global Commercial Payments, Small Business and Loyalty Management business units within GBS. Also provide additional support as required to the Head of Operational Risk.

Key Accountabilities

1. Operational Risk and Control Management - 60%

Risk and control assessment - RCA

• Provide the business with guidance, support, oversight and independent challenge to ensure that all material business risks and key controls are identified, documented, measured, monitored and mitigated.
• Facilitate risk and control assessments by documenting the key risk themes, control effectiveness, potential impacts, and mitigating actions across complex issues and major change programmes.
• Support the business through effective engagement with Internal Audit and oversight of control issues.

Risk event management

• Provide ongoing training and oversight across the business to ensure risk events are identified, reported, and managed.
• Assisting the business in the management and resolution of major business risk events by reviewing new control requirements, tracking implementation of action plans, and overseeing root cause analysis to prevent reoccurrences.

Governance and Policy Compliance

• Understand and interpret Barclays Group Policy, Barclaycard Policy and wider legal and regulatory requirements to ensure they are applied appropriately by the business.
• Ensure that the dispensation and waiver to policy process is applied and approved by the business.
• Ensure the business operates within appropriate limits of authority for risk acceptance and risk event approval.

Capital Management Process

• Develop and maintain a clear understanding of how the Operational Risk Capital process applies to the Barclaycard business.
• Where required, support the capital quarterly and annual reviews.

2. Training and Communication - 20%

• Develop and maintain a clear understanding of all Group and Barclaycard governance, policy, risk and control requirements.
• Communicate the Barclays 'Group Internal Control and Assurance Framework' requirements through regular briefing and training sessions within the Barclaycard business. Including Senior Stakeholder updates (SBU ExCo Members).

3. Risk Management Information and Reporting - 20%

• Ensure risk MI is complete, accurate and records are maintained in accordance with Group risk management policies.

Contribute to local business and Barclaycard wide operational risk reporting.
