Overall Job Purpose
This role is for an experienced Asset Configuration & Licence Analyst with particular experience relating to Microsoft & Citrix environments
Contributing to planning, Design and Development of systems and processes to ensure licensing across the Windows platform is clearly understood and that the best cost is obtained for new requirements and reuse is evidenced where appropriate
Implementing tools & processes to ensure all assets managed by Distributed Engineering are correctly recorded in the Bank's Configuration management Database (CMDB).
Working collaboratively with other departments ensure that the asset lifecycle processes are fit for purpose and allow additions, moves and changes to be accurately reflected in the Banks CMDB
Technical contribution to strategic solutions for the management of Windows assets and software
Implement knowledge management processes and ensure document lifecycle within Distributed Engineering is clearly embedded and understood

Update Intranet presence and ensure content is appropriate, authorised and access controlled where necessary
Key Accountabilities & approximate time split (%)
30% to 40% Licence Approach & Management
Investigate & document the current Microsoft, Citrix and common software licence models in place across GRCBT on the Windows Platform
Work with vendors and stakeholders to understand the current cost model and charging models for the software in place
Work with Vendor Management to ensure the best model is employed by Barclays to drive cost benefit and licence reuse
Document licence lifecycle and ensure procurement, management and reuse policies are embedded and driving value
20%-30% Asset & Configuration Management
Assist with the activity required to ensure that Distributed Engineering can provide a data feed into the Bank's CMDB of all data required to operate the key ITIL disciplines of Incident, Change, Problem & Configuration Management
Work with key stakeholders to ensure the asset lifecycle processes capture all required data as assets are installed, changed or removed from the estate.
10%-30% Knowledge Management & Intranet Presence
Assist with the activity required to bring together all of Distributed Engineering knowledge documentation into a managed environment
Document and agree with key stakeholders the lifecycle management of Distributed Engineering documents to ensure technical correctness, authorisation, access control, refresh & removal
Run the governance process and ensure adherence
Assist with the content management of all Distributed Engineering related intranet Sites. Work collaboratively with all areas of Distributed Engineering to ensure our public face on the intranet is consistent and in accordance with brand guidelines
10%-30% Technical Leadership
Directs and guides less experienced technicians to ensure that processes and procedures are correctly designed, delivered and implemented to comply with technical strategy and group policy.
Develops the governance, technical authority, leadership and direction necessary for the design and implementation of activities under their control, including industry best practices.
Coaches and develops the skills of other less experienced staff.

Experienced with the software licensing process and with standards and practices used within the organisation

Person Specification
Experience of Microsoft & Citrix Licence Options and Implementation
Previous experience of working with Microsoft & Citrix licence environments
Understanding of the different licence models employed and the benefits/features of each
Proficient in Windows Configuration tools & processes
Proficient in the use of key Microsoft and 3 rd Party tools for the management of assets and software
In particular familiarity with Peregrine Asset Center, Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager and Peregrine Enterprise Discovery.
Proficient in Internet & Intranet Technologies
Proficient in Microsoft SharePoint Technologies and a good understanding of Internet related technologies.
Good understanding of access control options and best practice implementation
Proficient in Knowledge Management Processes
Previous experience of implementing and governing knowledge management tools and processes
Good stakeholder management skills to ensure buy in to processes and procedures
Proficient in Operating Infrastructure
Knowledge of the ICT infrastructure (hardware, databases, operating systems, local area networks etc) used within own organisation.
Familiar with Infrastructure Architecture
The frameworks and principles on which networks, systems, equipment and infrastructure resources are based.
Examples: Citrix PS4, Windows 2000/2003, SQL 2005

Preferable
Experience with concepts of Microsoft Active Directory
A working knowledge of the Bank's IT infrastructure components and the processes that are required to maintain that infrastructure.

A general awareness is required of current IT development and live systems, the Bank's architectures and strategies and computing trends.
Ability to plan and control own work and the work of others.
