The Head of Trading will manage AXA Rosenberg trading teams and oversee day-to-day trading implementation activities across each of the Rosenberg trading centres in London, Orinda and Singapore. The Head of Trading’s purpose is to ensure that desks use globally-consistent best practices, coordinate effectively to support each other’s activities, and are sufficiently staffed and cross trained. The Head of Trading reports to the Global CIO and supervises regional desk heads. The Head of Trading is expected to interact with Regional CIO’s, and their portfolio manager/engineer teams, with the regional operations teams, and with the global Technology team, as well as with other teams as necessary from time to time, to ensure that trades are completed accurately and on a timely, fair and cost-effective basis on behalf of our clients. Position Responsibilities:
  • Ensure robust, high quality trade execution that is both compliant with applicable local laws, regulations and internal policies and minimizes client as well as business and organizational risks.
    • Establish strong relationships, cross-organizational communication processes and business practices that leverage organizational resources, improve efficiency and enhance responsiveness to changes in the global trading environment.
    • Establish clear lines of communication with the traders and portfolio managers to ensure an orderly flow of information and trades. Act as a liaison between trading and portfolio management when necessary.
    • Supervise the regional desks to maximize efficiency of execution at the lowest possible cost.
    • Review analysis of trade execution to determine where improvements can be made to process, technology or staffing.
    • Promote a cohesive culture which encourages communication and collaboration.
    • Work with Compliance and Legal to ensure that all industry regulations and internal policy requirements are met.
    • Work with operations to maintain disaster recovery procedures and capabilities.
  • Harmonize trading processes globally
    • Ensure that management of relationships with brokers and the commission sharing arrangements are aligned between regions.
    • Coordinate with AXA IM trading desk.
  • Assess trading practices against industry best practices and implement appropriate improvements
    • Track and understand cutting edge developments in equity trading and implications to our strategies.
    • Develop and maintain a deep knowledge of investment process & relevant markets
    • Develop and maintain trading expertise across a range of equity products, both domestic & international, including options, futures, ETF’s and FX.
    • Develop and maintain technical expertise with EMS, OMS & TCA systems & ability to assess new products as the market develops.
Experience:
  • Deep knowledge of quantitative investment implementation processes
  • Knowledge of variety of trading tools, OMS, EMS, TCA and trade-offs associated with any tool selection.
  • Understanding of the current external equity markets and relevant micro-structures
  • Experience successfully organising own work and that of others to deliver results in a collaborative and global environment.
  • Experience of managing investment and operational risk in trading environment
  • Advanced degree in finance, accounting, economics, financial engineering or other relevant quantitative field preferred
  • Ability to work in office during market hours and flexible outside of market hours in order to monitor/work with other regions
  • CFA Charterholder preferred
