The Senior Lawyer will take on responsibilities relating to documentation in connection with the HK Corporate & Institutional Relationships & HK Financial Institutions Group, which forms the bulk of the institutional business in HK. This will ensure scalability in relation to ANZ templates with other key products (Markets, Trade, Cash) and assist Heads of Legal Relationship Banking & Global Loans, APEA Transaction Banking, APEA to harmonize that expectations in certain key centric sales forum organized by the key institutional businesses of the Bank (C&IR, FIG). You will also support the support documentation process for Commercial banking and support the Trade Supply Chain, receivables financing and Structured Trade Finance deals. As the title suggests, you will provide strategic advice to the HK Institutional Business in complex and higher value cross border transactions particularly where external lawyers are not involved and internal legal sign offs are required (including coordination with regional legal resources, external and internal and create and strengthen relations with each support functions/other stakeholders such as Legal/ICA, Risk, Tax, Compliance). You will also proactively manage legal risk for the business through the provision of a quality, timely, commercially relevant and cost effective service. Liaising with Heads of Legal and assisting to support policy setting, direction and broad general discussion with the HK Institutional and Commercial business teams will be expected of you. You will also ensure templates meet certain standard and revising templates. Qualifications: This role will require a candidate with 5 years experience in a similar role along with strong experience in banking and finance and international trade finance, including exposure to and experience with products, documentation and transactions. Current practicing certificate, with at least 5 years post admission experience will be required. Legal or commercial experience in corporate and institutional general financing will be a plus. Good working knowledge of and experience with, the laws of Hong Kong, English, (Victorian/New South Wales law) and/or another major Asian jurisdiction (Singapore, Japan / Hong Kong) will be mandatory. Ideally this experience should have been obtained while working in a law firm or in a major financial institution located in any Asian jurisdictions.
