As an asset management firm that applies fundamental and quantitative research to the investment process, our technology solutions can help develop and sustain a global competitive advantage. As a summer intern, you will work closely with a specialist technology team and support them in various aspects of their work, including projects with the potential for significant business impact. Our program also serves as a pipeline for the Technology Associate Program, our two-year rotational program for college graduates. Our internship program in Information Technology recruits students into two disciplines: software development and infrastructure engineering. Software Development Developers, business analysts, and project managers are invaluable assets in developing, customizing, and integrating applications that meet the dynamic and challenging business mandates. Our software development teams support a vast range of investment and financial platforms, including equities, fixed income, trading, compliance, corporate finance, data management, and reporting. The intern would be assigned to one of the teams supporting these key activities. While the core work is programming, today’s developer must also know how the specific business functions. You will be joining business managers and with our business analysts as they meet to define the requirements for writing code. You will learn both the functional and technical aspects of an application in addition to the languages and frameworks used for construction. All interns will learn by working closely with his/her project manager, mentor, independent study, and team members. You will experience some facets of the development lifecycle from code design to unit testing. As data is a key component of many applications within the firm, you may also gain experience in some form of data modeling and SQL programming. Your work will be used to assist in either the investment process or the customer service – so a premium is placed on your ability to contribute to delivering high-quality tools within a reasonable timeframe. Infrastructure Engineering The engineering discipline focuses more on delivering technical solutions to all the businesses in the firm. The Global Enterprise Technology Services (GETS) area of IT controls all infrastructure functions that sustain the firm’s technology backbone, supporting our monitoring and integration activities, as well as the wide range of networks, tools, and systems used by our employees.
