GETS Description

Global Enterprise Technology Services (GETS) builds and supports AllianceBernstein's global technology infrastructure, which underpins the firm's entire technical operating environment. This includes the foundation for the IT department's robust, innovative solutions, which provide critical services to our business partners and which enable the firm to develop and sustain its competitive advantage. Groups comprising GETS include enterprise services, such as client services management, communications and networking, database services, engineering, market data, information security, systems management, and web hosting. They also include technology operations, such as client server system administration, the command center, messaging operations, production control and release management, storage management, and international operations.

Job Description

We are seeking a White Plains-based Network Operations Manager to join our Communications Team in Global Enterprise Technology Services.

Energetic, highly motivated, goal oriented, Sr. Network Engineer to a global network operations team in a dynamic fast-paced environment. The candidate will work in a team environment managing an operations team in NY and India, applying technical expertise to the management, monitoring, and day-to-day support of a complex global data network. Must be a team player and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills since they will participate in meetings with members of various teams as well as business clients. The candidate must present themselves in a professional and intuitive manner.

As the manager of the Network Operations team, the candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, management and support of the global IP network. All corporate functions depend heavily on the reliability and performance of the network, including voice and video communications, all applications and back-end processes and all infrastructure services.

The key job responsibilities of the Operations Team include, but are not limited to:

o Monitor the network and respond to alerts
o Resolve all outages and performance issues
o Escalate issues with vendors including carriers, manufacturers (e.g. Cisco, Juniper, etc.) and service providers
o Fulfill requests for connectivity, router access list changes, etc.
o Proactively monitor performance and capacity utilization and recommend upgrades in capacity as necessary
o Perform implementations and rollouts in cooperation with and directed by the Network Engineering Team
o Manage cable infrastructure capacity, oversee installations for office builds and reconfigurations
o Support and maintain the internal DNS and DHCP infrastructure
o Maintain device software versions and configurations according to standards and policies
o Maintain accurate documentation
o Mentor junior members of the team

Job Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have the following:

Qualifications, Experience, and Education:
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience including at least two years in a financial firm
• At least two years managing an Operations team

Skills:
• Managing personnel in remote locations
• Experience in developing, measuring and understanding operational metrics
• An understanding of Cisco IOS routers and switches, Catalyst 6509 series and the Nexus 7000 and 5000 series
• A thorough understanding of Cisco’s WAAS WAN optimization products and implementation techniques
• A thorough understanding of Juniper JUNOS routers and switches, MX and EX series
• A thorough understanding of TCP/IP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, NAT, Access-Lists, route redistribution, 802.1x, Spanning-Tree, H.323, VOIP, QoS, DNS, DHCP.
• Excellent analytical & problem solving skills
• Previous experience with building and operating networks in remote Domestic U.S and International locations.
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Good documentation skills
• Must be able to work in a collaborative team-oriented environment
• Familiarity with the ITIL change, incident and problem management systems & procedures
