Our primary business goal is to design diversified investment solutions that help our clients build and preserve wealth. To achieve this goal for our individual investors, it is important to design portfolios that are diversified across asset classes, investment style, and geography. We recognize that client solutions are not the same for each investor. Some investors seek products and funds to complement existing portfolios while others need a more comprehensive investment strategy. We have therefore designed an array of investment solutions that can meet almost all investors’ needs. We offer individual investors a diverse line of investment vehicles including separately managed accounts, college savings (529) plans, variable annuities, retirement planning products, and a wide variety of mutual funds that span the world’s markets and vary by investment style. Institutional Investments AllianceBernstein Institutional Investments focuses on delivering the full scope of the firm’s investment services to institutions around the world. As of December 31, 2011, we managed approximately $224 billion in assets for institutional clients in more than 40 countries, including private, public and Taft-Hartley pension plans; foundations and endowments; insurance companies; central banks; and governments. Our global platforms support single-country portfolios in the US, Canada, the UK, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand; European and Asian regional portfolios; and global portfolios including or excluding the client’s home country. We believe our range of services, global research coverage and ability to serve clients in virtually all parts of the world make AllianceBernstein a preeminent resource for institutional investors worldwide. Bernstein Global Wealth Management Bernstein Global Wealth Management was established in 1967 to manage investments for families and individuals. Today, as a unit of AllianceBernstein L.P., we oversee some $69 billion (as of December 31, 2011) in private capital and offer global portfolios in stocks, bonds, hedge funds, and real estate. Each of our clients’ portfolios is tailored to his or her specific needs, yet all share the goal of maximizing return over full market cycles at a controlled risk level. Each portfolio is managed according to strict buy/sell disciplines, and all are driven by fundamental research. Tax considerations are integrated into our decision-making process, as appropriate for each client. For most clients, we advocate portfolios that are diversified among low-correlated asset classes around the world’s capital markets. Our goal is to assemble the portfolio for each client that suits his or her long-term wealth goals and risk-tolerance parameters. The RFP team develops responses to requests for proposals from prospective and existing clients looking to hire asset managers, provides updates to consultant databases regarding our firm and products, and works closely with the sales, marketing, and investment teams to ensure strong product messaging. The summer intern will work closely with the Request for Proposal (RFP) team to support them in all aspects of their business. This will include the organization and continued maintenance of our content management system, which entails creating new and editing existing responses to proposals; updating our product language in consultant databases and in quarterly sample RFPs; and information gathering and organization of content held within our fund prospectuses. The intern will also work with the team on special projects with potential for significant business impact. The program provides students with opportunities to learn about the new business generation process within both the retail and institutional distribution channels, and our product offerings. Each intern will be assigned a mentor that you will meet with throughout the program to learn about the different aspects of our business and to develop some of the required skill sets.
