Technical Consultant, Technology Services Job Details

Algo Risk Service (ARS) offers risk managers, portfolio managers, traders, and quantitative analysts a robust risk management and portfolio modelling environment to monitor, manage, and optimize risk across all asset classes and investment strategies. Hosted by Algorithmics and delivered over the internet, ARS provides access to state-of-the-art risk measurement and investment support tools through a sophisticated and flexible graphical user interface.

Responsibilities

In the ARS Technology Services team, the results oriented Technical Consultant will be part of a dynamic team responsible for the migration of legacy batch systems to a more robust services oriented platform. The candidate must be capable of executing a detailed migration plan, troubleshooting errors and performing systems regression testing.

Technical Consultants will report to the Technical Program Manager.

Qualifications

• Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based data management software; SOAP, Web Services
• Experience with XML technologies such as XML Schema, XPath, XSL, XSLT, SOAP and XML-RPC and other XML parsers and tools
• Knowledge of J2EE, Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) design patterns with practical experience in applying patterns to real world situations
• Strong UNIX scripting and debugging skills
• Strong knowledge of SQL, and database management systems (Oracle)
• Thorough knowledge of integration best practices is required.
• Strong technical documentation skills
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• A creative self-starter and highly motivated individual with excellent technical and analytical skills
• Effective time management and organization skills
• The following skills would be an asset:
• Good understanding of various communication protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP etc.)
• Knowledge of security concepts (SSO, LDAP)
• Detailed knowledge of various market data vendor feeds and contents would be an asset.

Education

University degree: Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
