PURPOSE OF THE JOB Responsible for developing acquisition, as well as existing customer, Retail credit risk, collections or campaign strategies by using data analysis and predictive modelling techniques. In addition, responsible for developing monitoring and tracking management information (MI) of strategies and developing reports to highlight trends to Management within the Portfolio. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop data driven credit risk strategies within the Retail Customer Value Management (CVM) team
  • Liaise with the relevant risk management stakeholders in order to identify and select an appropriate data sample for strategy design
  • Consolidate the data in a logical manner such that it is analytical ready for Statistical
Analysis Software
  • Identify any data anomalies or trends and investigate possible causes
  • Develop several alternative profitability strategies based on an analysis of the data and risk criteria available
  • Produce a detailed reports for the CVM and portfolio Management Team on required strategy designs
  • Document and communicate the strategy design methodology in a transparent and understandable manner to technical as well as a non technical audience
  • Liaise with the CVM capability team to ensure that the strategy is correctly implemented and that the timelines are within acceptable standards
  • Continually benchmark current strategies against mandated risk criteria as well as industry standard and best practise benchmarks
  • Produce and analyse monthly credit risk Management Information
  • Produce strategy review documentation that shows the relative performance of comparative acquisition and existing customer credit risk strategies
  • Actively manage and improve the risk-based profitability of the new applications as measured in terms of interest income, and Return on Credit Risk Economic Capital
  • Manage strategy sign-off process to ensure that all stakeholders are informed of proposed strategy changes and benefit or impact of these changes to the business
  • Investigate and resolve all unresolved credit risk complaints that are escalated to the CVM Credit Risk portfolio for final decisioning
  • Reconsider all declined applications that have been escalated to the CVM Credit Risk for further consideration

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • B Degree in Business or Mathematics or Statistics or Operational Research or Industrial Engineering or Risk Management or equivalent NQF level 6 or higher qualification
  • Three (3) years experience is required, in data analysis utilising a standard statistical package such as SAS
  • One (1) year experience in SAS Advanced programming for statistical analysis and manipulation of very large data sets
  • One (1) year advanced computer literacy especially the Microsoft Office suite of programmes (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
  • No criminal record
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Honors or Masters Degree in Business or Mathematics or Statistics or Operational Research or Industrial Engineering or Risk Management
  • Five (5) years experience in credit risk analysis and strategy implementation
  • One (1) year Visio proficiency will be beneficial
  • Preference will be given to South African Citizens and Permanent residents of South Africa in possession of proof of permanent resident status
