Role Summary/Purpose The EHS Specialist demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals/programs/processes for an area or business segment, has the experience and expertise to solve problems, and is able to develop and execute objectives for self and others. This role has the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. Essential Responsibilities • Provide support and technical guidance to operations personnel to ensure programs are developed and implemented to provide safety and healthy work environments for all employees and protect the environment from adverse effects • Drive EHS performance metrics/improvement at several field service sites within Canada and USA. • External and internal customer focus, strong commitment to the operationalization of EHS activity • Promote EHS performance to customers and other interested parties • Participate in the development and improvement of EHS programs on a global scale • Participate in the investigation of all recordable accidents and incidents • Ensure effective working relationships with GE Oil & Gas EHS HQ staff and government agencies on EHS issues • Identify and manage employee EHS Training • Ensure that site security meets GE requirements • Conduct and/or participate in EHS audits as required Qualifications/Requirements • Degree qualified in science or engineering discipline (or equivalent) • Nationally recognized safety qualification and /or certification • 3-5 years EHS Leadership role, preferably with Oil & Gas experience • Trained EHS Auditor • Travel required (Approx. 30%) Desired Characteristics • Strong communicator, energetic personality, results driven • Team player • Risk Assessor • Appreciation of Oil & Gas industry • Field or Project Management experience • Train the Trainer
