Job Description:

Purpose: To administer Navy Federal's financial risk models though Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) in order to mitigate interest rate risk. (Reports to AVP, Asset Liability Management)

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Administers Navy Federal's financial risk models through QRM to include monitoring, projecting, and interpreting financial risk data as it relates to Navy Federal's net interest margin. Reviews and validates the analysis of interest-rate risk associated with Navy Federal's financial position and its impact on projected net income
  2. Reviews, evaluates and enhances the management processes and models used to measure interest rate risk. Provides guidance to staff on how to update, maintain and back-test key modeling assumptions. Creates risk management reports that reflect a variety of options such as swaps, highest and lowest interest rate on debt instruments (caps and floors) to mitigate risk.
  3. Performs supervisory duties: selects employees, conducts performance appraisals, counsels and develops employees. Establishes staff objectives, standards, strategies, and priorities. Reviews work of staff to ensure quality of work. Provides guidance to staff in using advanced financial forecasting and planning techniques to measure interest rate risk.
  4. Prepares and presents financial impact and interest rate risk analyses to portfolio managers, senior management, the Financial Management Committee, and to board members and volunteer officials. Performs other related duties as required or appropriate.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Expert knowledge of data mining techniques and Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Direct experience with QRM systems and software
  • Extensive financial analysis experience
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and provide guidance to staff
  • Demonstrated financial risk modeling experience, with emphasis on interest rate risk simulations and analysis
  • Strong quantitative and mathematical skills
  • Experience assimilating technical, complex financial and economic data and making sound and prompt decisions
  • Ability to gather, analyze and communicate clearly and diplomatically, facts and conclusions, both orally and in writing, to all levels of the organization, Board members and volunteer officials, regulators and to external entities
  • Effective planning and organizational skills

 

Additional Expertise

  • Graduate degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics or a related field
  • CFA, MBA, MS or relevant professional/graduate qualification in a finance related discipline

 

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
