The Risk Manager / Principal Risk Manager will have proven experience in credit risk or financial analysis and will contribute to the credit process relating to the EBRD's Treasury activities by acting as Primary Risk Manager for a portfolio of highly rated counterparties, primarily complex financial institutions. The Risk Manager / Principal Risk Manager will also have experience of capital markets instruments and treasury products, encompassing potentially the whole range of interest rate, foreign exchange and credit instruments available in the financial markets, with significant usage of complex instruments and over-the-counter derivatives. Close co-operation with the rest of the TCRM department as well as other Risk Management Department teams and Treasury will be required. The Risk Manager / Principal Risk Manager also will have interaction with other internal and external contacts including rating agencies and counterparty representatives..
The Team
Treasury Credit Risk Management (TCRM) is responsible for the independent identification, analysis, surveillance and mitigation of credit risks in the EBRD's Treasury operations. TCRM and Treasury work in close co-operation towards optimizing the risk adjusted return on the portfolio within investment and risk parameters authorized by the Board of Directors.
Key responsibilities and deliverables
• Perform timely and efficient credit analysis, primarily of high grade complex financial institutions to determine internal credit ratings and recommendations. Monitoring of this portfolio of counterparties including on-going surveillance reports and regular reviews featuring sector analysis and name-by-name assessments. • Make approval recommendations to the Director of TCRM on a range of Treasury credit topics which arise. • Maintain awareness and assess critically developments in global financial markets which may impact the EBRD's risk exposures.
• Review and comment on documentation and terms for Treasury products (repos, derivatives, etc). • Act as Secondary Risk Manager in back-up for selected approved names and generally support other Risk Managers in sharing knowledge.
Essential skills, experience & qualifications
• Minimum 3 years work experience in a relevant financial institution, although a more experienced candidate (5 years+) is desirable.. • Strong knowledge of credit analysis or financial analysis required. • Basic knowledge of capital markets instruments and Treasury products required. • Previous exposure to credit practices, procedures and policies at a leading financial institution or supranational is a plus.
