Job Description
This position is for a Vice President within Credit Risk Management (CRM) focusing on Brazilian Corporates.  The position will be based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, reporting to the Latin American Corporates CRM team in New York. This VP will have primary responsibility in conducting credit coverage on a portfolio of existing and prospect corporate clients in Brazil. The position involves a close interaction with local business teams, and a strong independence in credit views and recommendations for credit approval by NY-based credit officers. The position will not have independent credit approval authority.
 
Specifically, the role consists of:
 
·        Performing credit research on complex companies and conglomerates.
The VP will be in charge of conducting in-depth credit analysis of the assigned portfolio of clients, and of screening potential prospects targeted by business partners. This task will require him/her to maintain frequent client contact to support a current and prospective view of clients in his/her portfolio, industry trends and credit needs. Frequent client due diligence sessions and management of financial modeling will be expected from the person taking this role.
 
·        Becoming the center of institutional credit knowledge on his/her clients for all risk products
The person responsible for this position will become the key contact point on his/her clients in any credit-related queries from internal partners in Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Derivatives Marketing, TS&S and F&O among others. He/she will interact closely with internal partners to assess credit opportunities and needs, maintaining an objective and independent credit view, and articulating well-supported credit recommendations. The position will also require the VP to be a contact point for interaction with local regulators and auditors in credit-related matters.
 
·        Playing an integral role in making recommendations for credit approval, and in executing credit-approved transactions.
In addition to stating credit opinions and recommendations, the VP will be expected to take ownership of the implementation of credit decisions, helping to set credit parameters and to negotiate credit terms and documentation for loans and derivatives.
 
·        Maintaining an active risk-monitoring of his/her portfolio.
Post-closing ongoing credit work on syndicated and non-syndicated credit products and facilities, including review of quarterly financials and covenant reporting, amendments/waivers, ongoing dialogue with syndicate members.
 
·        Overseeing the local credit team.
As the most senior member of the local credit team, the VP will be responsible for overseeing the work of associates and analysts in the team, and of carrying out formal management responsibilities on more junior members of the team.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who possess strong accounting, finance, analytical,  computer modeling, and management/administrative skills.
 
The following qualifications are also required:

    * Candidates should be fully credit trained and have at least 6 years of credit risk experience
    * Candidates should have extensive accounting and corporate finance coursework
    * They should also have a strong interest in client interaction and possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills
    * Must be able to work well under pressure on teams in a demanding environment, and must be able to keep an independent credit perspective and judgment in any situation.
    * Candidates should be highly proficient in Excel, Powerpoint and Word software
    * Good knowledge of derivative products.
    * Fluent in English. Good knowledge of Portuguese is strongly preferred.
