Primary responsibility in this role is to provide effective leadership to a team of highly educated Risk Management professionals so that we may develop our organizational resources, enhance our capabilities and exceed credit risk and financial expectations for the bank's Retail Partner credit card programs located in Canada.
 
The primary accountabilities in this role include leading multiple functions/processes for Credit Risk Management in the Retail Partner Credit Card Segment which have significant financial impact, communicating key functional decisions and reporting results to ELT, making specific recommendations and decisions on broad policies and procedures, participating in the development of strategic initiatives and being held accountable for achieving desired results, including P/L. Individuals are autonomous decision makers and are expected to influence decision making in functional areas outside of Risk.
 
To be successful in this position the candidate needs to demonstrate that they have the ability, experience and knowledge in the following areas:
 
Excellent business acumen - Can describe the business processes, products, and applications of the retail segment to include both private label and co-brand products. Is aware of trends within the financial industry and the economy at large that will impact portfolio performance. Utilize experience and knowledge of the financial, operational, competitive, regulatory and legal environments in assessing Risk impacts on existing portfolios as well as potential acquisitions
 
Proven problem solving / solution building skills - Identifies issues and collaborates with various teams to find solutions. Is capable of and has proven that they can resolve problems and make decisions for the department or organization based upon available information and business knowledge.
 
Strong analytical skills - Can effectively lead statisticians in the development of credit strategies. Proven ability to find financial solutions to improve portfolio P&L's.
 
Accomplished negotiating skills - Presents a case for desired objective including the facts, options and benefit; understands what is fair for the bank and fair for the customer; persuades and influences others to meet an organizational objective; reaches mutually satisfying agreements.
 
Results focused - Consistently takes action before being directed; tries easier or more effective ways to do the job; volunteers to help others; concurrently manages several tasks of equal priority.
 
Qualifications

    * 15+ years of credit risk experience. Experience in general purpose and private label credit card is desired.
    * 10+ years Credit Card experience in Canada preferred
    * Proven experience with strategic planning and tactical implementation
    * Strong communication skills.
    * Experience with portfolio acquisitions and the due diligence process
    * Ability to create high level presentations on complex issues.
    * Ability to influence others at various levels and within various functions to accomplish the task.
    * A full understanding of the "big picture" and P&L.
    * Ability to lead and motivate others.
