As Group Manager, Risk Governance & Executive Reporting, the successful candidate will be responsible for setting and executing strategy against a variety of initiatives  across and in support of Chase Card Services Risk Management.  This leader is responsible for development, implementation and adherence to appropriate risk control processes and disciplines and communication of strategy, risks and results to key stakeholders include Chase Card Services and JPMC Executives, regulators, investors and rating agencies.  These functions will include, but are not limited to:


  • Governance for all Risk Strategies, providing a control environment and structure for credit policy change in alignment with fair lending guidelines and corporate risk policy.

  • Governance  of Risk Models and Analytical Tools ensuring appropriate approvals, controls and documentation of new and existing models as well as required validations

  • Design and delivery of ongoing executive & external communications including reporting CCS performance metrics and commentary regarding drivers of results and risk actions to Investors, Credit Committee, JPMC CEO and Operating Committee, Rating Agencies and regulators (e.g., OCC).

  • Financial performance of Risk initiatives and operating expense to meet and exceed bottom line targets.

  • Central point of contact for internal and external auditors/regulators to ensure accurate and timely response and follow-up on all requests or actions resulting from such audits.


This position will work closely with all disciplines within the Business Segments & Risk Policy providing discipline, focus and leadership from an Operational Risk, Credit Policy and Customer  Experience perspective across the entire credit cycle from acquisitions through collections to help successfully manage these risks.

 

The role will manage a team of managers with specific functional expertise separately in  governance and financial performance/reporting.  The candidate must possess strong leadership skills to ensure appropriate staffing and organizational structure and strategic guidance across these functions.

Polished presentation skills are required to represent CCS with executive internal and external audiences.




The Group Manager, Governance & External Reporting will:


  • Enhance the Governance process for Credit Policy changes and ensure compliance.  Develop/improve exception monitoring to maintain acceptable risk levels.  Ensure approval protocol development and control. 

  • Provide a Model Governance framework and controls for all risk models and tools.  Work closely with key risk stakeholders in terms of model validation and overall tracking of the status of the Risk Model Inventory.

  • Be responsible for the creation and presentation of executive management reporting regarding CCS risk performance and projected performance relative to forecast and industry benchmarks.

  • Drive organization to acceptable audits through communication and coordination with internal audit and OCC reviews, risk control internal assessment processes and stewardship across the Business Segments.

  • Implement risk initiatives approval and performance tracking methodology across six risk business segments for acquisitions and portfolio functions for revenue, loss and expense targets.

  • Interact with other Credit Risk Teams, Chase Card Services operational units, Marketing, Finance and Segment Management to ensure programs are sound from a credit policy perspective and producing the expected return on outstandings.

  • Partner with other Risk Teams to assess impacts of new credit strategies, models and policies on the Card Services overall budget & Capital Reserves.

  • Overall, this job requires the ability to direct the analysis of and analyze historical data to use in developing and measuring strategies and to drive results via ongoing partnerships with business counterparts to achieve business goals while effectively managing Risk.

  • Be comfortable with and have significant experience in presenting to and communicating with executive members both internal and external to the organization.

  • Provide independent, balanced perspectives on plans, risks and opportunities. Examine and shape policies based on overall customer perspective in alignment with our focus on the Customer Experience. 

  • Define business challenges in specific, measurable terms and manage cross-functional high-performing teams in pursuit of strategic opportunities.

  • Have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Understand the financial, operational, competitive, regulatory and legal environments in assessing Risk impacts. 




  • BS/BA degree required; MBA/MA/MS in finance, quantitative analysis, or operations research preferred. 

  • We are seeking an individual with extensive knowledge of operational & consumer risk management and experience in defining risk policy assessments & controls and leading others to the achievement of the associated goals.

  • The Group Manager typically has 10 years of relevant business and leadership experience in a Financial Services or associated organization including a minimum of five years of credit/risk management experience.

  • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to succeed in a matrix environment where responsibility and results are shared will be essential.

  • This individual should be strategically oriented, an innovative thinker with strong leadership skills and a solid decision maker who can "get things done". 

  • The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual who combines strategic thinking with the penchant for action. He/she must possess the technical know-how, business awareness and analytical and interpersonal skills required coupled with an understanding of the credit cycle for consumer credit products.  Small business lending experience would be a plus.

  • Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, are critical and required.  A proven track record of people management success demonstrating  leadership, performance management, coaching and development and skills is also required.
