Job Description This position is for a developer within the Global Analytics Team Analytics is a major application developed in London, Glasgow and Mumbai. Analytics is part of JPMorgan's Equity Derivatives Pricing and Risk management platform. Every night, the Bank's entire OTC Derivative portfolio, over 50,000 instruments, needs to be priced not only to assess profit & loss but also to compute the Bank's exposure to changing market conditions - how much will we lose (or make) if, say, the price of oil rockets overnight or the Euro plummets. This has to be delivered every day and on-time without fail to enable the traders to trade and manage risk, for effective financial management and to meet critical regulatory requirements. The Bank also needs to deliver to the market new financial derivates products in as short a time as possible in order to win business ahead of our competitors. Whilst time to market is important, it is also important to deliver a professional, reliable, robust and scalable solution. This role is a pivotal part of that delivery. It will offer the successful candidate an opportunity to gain insight into leading edge derivatives products in the Equities FLOW, Delta, Equities Exotics and commodities arena and to become familiar with the market data business. Analytics is part of JPMorgan's leading edge equity derivatives risk platform that uses technologies such as Sybase, C++, Java, and Platform Symphony grid computing middleware. Scalability is achieved by distributing pricing calculations over thousands of CPU cores. The role will require the successful candidate to:
* Develop and maintain product implementations to functional & technical specifications. * Work within a defined quality assurance process. * Investigate, debug and resolve issues with pricing the derivative products. * Becoming familiar with the financial products and other business aspects related to the application. * Liaise with developers and the business analysts in other locations (London and Mumbai) and to understand requirements and identify technical solutions. * Liaise and work with those responsibly for the first and second line production support of the application to resolve production issues. This includes assisting trader support teams and other development teams in investigating identify and resolving application related issues. * In due course participation in the teams' intraday 3rd level support rota. * In due course participation in the teams' out-of-hours 3rd level support rota.
Qualifications Education Numerical degree or equivalent Technical Competencies:
* Relational databases (Sybase preferred, with other major database product experience considered) * SQL/stored procedure programming * XML * Strong analytical skills * Numerate, comfortable working with numeric data * A understanding of development processes * UNIX (editing files, basic commands)
Essential Experience:
* Experience in a professional development environment preferably in a delivery role * Strong SQL including performance tuning * Good team working abilities, including working with remote teams * Ability to manage dependencies and proactively anticipate and creatively deal with issues * Working within controlled software development lifecycle processes
Desired Experience:
* Experience in an investment banking environment * Experience in UNIX shell scripting, use of command line features. * Programming experience in Java or C++ is not expected but would be of value
