Our client, a full-service regional financial services company, has expanded from the California frontier to its current position as one of the top 25 commercial banks in the nation, with assets of more than $63 billion. They currently seek a Basel II Compliance Manager.
Position Summary
Responsible for working closely with stakeholders within the Basel II Program, to provide guidance on Implementation issues escalated by work-stream project managers and acts as the Program’s subject matter advisor.
Job Specifications
1. Oversee the oversight of the periodic self- assessment process and coordination with the Bank’s regulatory liaison and Regulator on Basel II related matters.
2. Manage the execution of periodic quantitative impact studies, in coordination with the Bank’s work-stream leads and the regulatory reporting group.
3. Responsible for control over Basel II knowledge gained within the organization and other sources in a standardized manner.
4. May attend Basel II Steering Committee meetings as needed to address issues with the Committee for the Basel II PMO.
5. Supports liaise with the parent company representatives as it relates to U.S Basel II specificities.
6. Reports into the overall Program Management Office Manager.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education or Equivalent Experience • Bachelor’s Degree
Required Experience • 10 to 15 years of work experience, including prior Basel II implementation experience in the U.S.
Field of Experience – Job-specific knowledge requirements, for example,
• Must have Senior Manager or Vice-President level experience. • Must have experience in Quantitative Analysis relating to finance, statistics, economics, or other quantitative method. • Project Management experience preferred • Previous experience in credit risk modeling in a banking environment • The ability to communicate and speak French is highly desired.
Administrative/Technical Skills – Job-specific skill requirements, for example, • Thorough understanding of Basel II rules and associated Supervisory Guidance are required • Must possess a background in risk management in banking with an in-depth understanding of risk management tools and capital methodologies to assure compliance with regulatory and other stakeholder expectations. • Must have possess strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to liaise with all levels of management throughout the organization • Must possess the ability to gain consensus through mediation, and finding creative and innovative solutions to issues and implementation challenges. • Strong inter personal, analytical, negotiating, influencing, facilitation, organizational, decision-making skills are required. • Strong teaching/training capabilities to allow for dissemination of critical Basel related information to all levels of an organization.
