Job Description:

It is the responsibility of the Data Control SMF (Security Master File) Specialist to maintain the accuracy of all security information (all terms and conditions, descriptive data, corporate actions, factors, coupons, etc.) within Western Asset's proprietary global security reference database.  In addition, each SMF specialist should understand the downstream effects of security master file changes and proactively communicate any of these changes to affected departments.

 

Responsibilities/Duties:


  •  Expedite and ensure accuracy of security set up in Global Data Repository (GDR) and Invest One (I1) portfolio accounting engine for new issues and security contributions
  •  Assist in devising workflow and developing technology strategies for the creation and maintenance of new security types
  •  Work with Settlements, Trade Support, Technology and Portfolio Administration to determine appropriate security structure within WA systems
  •  Respond to ad hoc inquiries and requests regarding security set-up and maintenance
  •  Research issues and processing exceptions in security set-ups
  •  Provide support to the global offices

 

 

Competencies:


  •  Industry experience preferred
  •  Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  •  Strong computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access
  •  Experience with security research using Bloomberg is required
  •  Experience in reading prospectuses is preferred

 

4 year college degree required
