cBanker is a critical Compliance application that supports the Compliance Control Room and Conflicts Management teams interact with both public and private side front office businesses, as well as other teams within Compliance and Function (e.g. Legal, Risk, etc). Ensuring appropriate management of material non-public information, Wall Crossing of individual from public to private side, creation and management of Banking deal teams and the review/publishing of Barclays Research. The team is currently in a very exciting period of re-inventing itself through automating operational processes and bringing in state of the art technology.

Your Role

You will work as a Lead developer in an agile team delivering the cBanker system.

You will:

  • Work with delivery and project managers to help with technical feasibility, estimation and planning new initiatives.

  • Mentor junior developers and distil best practices in relation to J2EE development and architecture.

  • Lead/manage critical compliance applications enhancements following Agile methodology.

  • Articulate the product architectural vision, benefit and create design documentation.

  • Provide SME services to the Production Support teams in respect to your application(s).

    The successful candidates should have the soft skills to complement their technical knowledge; including analysis, strong communication and documentation skills. The candidate will be expected to proactive learner; always willing to expand their knowledge and skills as necessary.

    Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Drive and define development standards in collaboration with delivery manager.

  • Lead and Manage scrum technically and be a go to person for technical guidance.

  • Creation of technical design documents adhering to predefined standards and bring in best industry practices.

  • Hands on development using Java/J2EE/Oracle PL-SQL technologies delivering the functionality to a high quality meeting the agreed specifications and standards.

  • Pro-active engagement in Agile ceremonies; e.g. daily stand ups, retrospectives and product demos

  • Troubleshooting QA, UAT, production and performance issues; identifying root cause and options for optimisation.

  • Conduct regular code reviews and provide constructive feedback across the team.

  • Ensuring project documentation is maintained as per project/firm standards.

  • Lead test-driven development approaches.

    Essential Skills
    • Excellent working experience in Agile methodologies and ideally in Financial sector.
    • Excellent analytical skills and an appetite for problem-solving and delivery.
    • Excellent problem solving skills, able to shift priorities quickly
    • Excellent communicator (verbal and written) and strong organization skills, with ability to liaise at all levels of the organization.
    • Extensive experience with Java / J2EE technologies including Java frameworks such as Spring/Hibernate
    • Prior experience working as Senior Developer/Tech Lead.
    • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and deliver results.
    • A proactive, self-starter, who is can be relied upon to act on initiative.
    • Can do attitude - willingness to roll-up the sleeves in order to get things done.
    • Collaborative style with ability to quickly build trust/credibility.
    • Deep knowledge of Oracle / PL-SQL, JMS and Smart GWT
    • Excellent working experience with the following tool sets:
  • Perforce/GIT for source code control
  • Confluence, JIRA, UML for project and task tracking
  • Autosys for batch control
  • MQ for messaging
  • Experience with software release/build processes (e.g., Continuous Integration, Automated Deployment, Test Driven Development, etc.)
  • JBOSS, Springboot
    • Understanding of Micro-service based architecture.
    • Graduate from a top university with a Computer Science degree or equivalent experience.


Desirable Skills
  • Professional Agile certification
  • Prior experience on of working in Compliance domain or IB domain
