Job Purpose:
Senior Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring the full compliance with laws, regulations and the Global, Regional and Local policies and procedures of Citi. He / she is also responsible for the appropriate detection, escalation, monitoring and remediation of compliance risk.

Job Background:
This position directly reports to the Citi Country Compliance Officer of Hungary.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Supporting the CCCO to implement the Country Compliance Programs.
2. Supporting the preparation and implementation of the annual Country Compliance Plan in conjunction with Regional Compliance.
3. Participating in the completion of the 4 Key Annual Compliance Risk Assessments (CARA, EWARA, EWORA and ABC&C).
4. Ensuring compliance with laws, regulations and Global Compliance directives. Providing the necessary compliance support for the ICG business and also for CSC Budapest.
5. Communicating the Compliance policies and procedures adequately. Handling and update of Compliance owned policies and procedures.
6. Operating the Regulatory Control Matrix (RCM) for the businesses in country.
7. Ensure that country requirements are properly captured in relevant policies and adhered to, as well as align with global and regional policies, as applicable.
8. Ensure Compliance training is delivered to all new hires and all on-line Compliance training is appropriately tracked, as required.
9. Ensure Compliance is kept updated on all new and amended products and services so that all relevant compliance, regulatory, risk and controls issues are appropriately addressed.
10. Ensure all relevant Compliance issues/concerns are promptly escalated to the CCCO.
11. Maintain an MCA containing all appropriate Processes, Risks and Controls.
12. Covering the core compliance functions and tasks, as required: Mandatory Absence, ODBI, ETP/PTP, RET, F&P, AB&C.
13. Handling of internal, external and regulatory requests and inquires in cooperation with Legal.
14. Develop and maintaining strong partnerships with peers and colleagues in Compliance and Global Functions in support of strengthening the organizational culture.
15. Assist the CCCO and other stakeholders in audit preparation and during IA reviews.
16. Substituting the CCCO in his / her absence.
17. Covering the Internal Data Privacy Officer role, based on and according to the applicable Citi policies and procedures (most importantly: managing the cross-border data clearances and reviewing/approving data sharing requests as per the Data sharing Policy), as well as the laws and regulations, especially Section 24. • (2) of the Data Privacy Act (2011:CXII.):
a) participate and assist in the decision-making process with regard to data processing and enforcing the rights of data subjects;
b) monitor compliance with the provisions of the Data Privacy Act and other regulations on data processing as well as with the provisions of internal data protection and data security regulations and the data security requirements, leveraging existing Citigroup processes and requirements, e.g. Managers' Control Assessment (MCA, Compliance Assurance (testing and monitoring) and Surveillance;
c) investigate complaints conveyed to him/her and, if he detects any unauthorized data processing operations, call on the controller or processor in question to cease such operations;
d) draw up the internal data protection and - with cooperation with the Business Information Security Officer (BISO) and considering also the Citigroup requirements - the data security rules;
e) in cooperation with the BISO maintain the internal data protection register;
f) arrange training sessions on the subject of data protection, leveraging the applicable Citigroup/EMEA training(s) and the Global Learning Management System.

This position provides potential development opportunities for expanded management roles in Compliance, to potentially include a position with wider authority or equivalent position in within the company, up to and including the Deputy CCCO position.


•Wide range of banking experience, different areas is a plus
•At least 3 years of experience in banking or in Compliance (outside of the banking industry)
•Knowledge of general banking products, market standards and environment
•Up-to-date knowledge of Citi's policies is a plus


•Proficiency with Banking and MS Office applications
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Fluent in English
•Capability to understand the current legal and regulatory environment and needs
•Has to be able to work under pressure, set priorities and pay attention to details


•Completion of required internal professional Compliance trainings
•To be acquainted with regulations, internal Compliance policies and requirements
•College or University degree
•Degree in law is a plus


•Analytical capability to review and analyze productivity metrics; ability to understand meaning behind trends and to adjust/develop program based on findings

•Moderate supervision. Moderately complex and varied work assignments requiring frequent, careful choice in timing and sequence of procedures and steps
•Frequently interacts with Front-, Mid- and Back-Offices within the ICG Business in the Country and CSC Budapest, including peers and department heads
•Contacts with other Compliance staff within the region
•Fluent English

The role is a 'Controlled function' CF as defined by the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 and European Central Bank (Single Supervisory Mechanism) Regulations 2014 (and related regulations and guidance).
